We have one open tenure-track lecturer position in Computational Linguistics/Natural Language Processing at the Center for Information and Language Processing (CIS) at LMU Munich, in the group of Hinrich Schuetze.
This position is Akademische/r Rätin/Rat auf Lebenszeit, the German equivalent of tenured lecturer. The initial contract will be for 3 years, to be converted into a tenured position after an evalution in the third year. It is possible to get tenure earlier.
Ideal candidates have a PhD in computational linguistics, computer science or a related discipline and are fluent in German (or are willing to learn German) and in English.
Start date: April 1st, 2026. Application deadline: October 31st, 2025. After that, the position will remain open until filled. We will consider applications as soon as they are submitted.
DUTIES
1. Teaching computational linguistics and natural language processing classes in our BSc and MSc computational linguistics programs
2. Academic service, e.g., serving as the academic coordinator for the BSc
3. Developing your own research program, including publications in top CL/NLP venues

ELLIS, relAI and MCML provide a rich environment for networking with other researchers in NLP and AI and for collaboration with other groups in the Munich area.
TEAM
The Center for Information and Language Processing (CIS) at LMU is headed by Barbara Plank and Hinrich Schuetze and is internationally recognized for its research on statistical NLP and language-focused deep learning. We are a growing team of more than 20 PhD students and researchers from 10 different nations.
